That's Life

Eventually we come to realize that life is our greatest teacher. Yes, greater than all the ministers, gurus, yogis and even Glenn Beck. Life always presents to us what is authentic, true, and real. When we resist life with our ego we just find that life ups the ante until we realize who is really in charge.
Several years ago I had it all; position, power, money, all the material manifestations we seem to honor before life shows up. Yea, I had all of these things, but I also had stress, anxiety, boredom and periods of depression.
Then life took over. I lost my job, my family, my financial security but, most importantly, my sense of importance. This might seem like a sad story, but it's not. Life wanted to show me something special. It showed me that my narcissistic ways did not bring me freedom and higher awareness. My self-absorbed view was really my prison, where Spirit was locked away, locked in egotistic fear of what could be lost. It was a fierce lesson of grace.
Life did not leave me a broken man. Quite the contrary, life has made me infinitely stronger. When you loose your sense of self-importance things become infinitely clearer and more focused. The difference is I don't resist life any longer. I honor and respect Its flow. Today I feel a sense of freedom associated when most of the karmic conditioning has been squeezed out of your system. Thank God for life.
Affirmation: Today I gratefully accept life's lesson for me knowing that what I am shown is for my highest and best good. Today, I embrace life's lessons knowing that, in the learning, Spirit is set free within me.
